This blog aims to focus on the treatment of minorities in modern-day politics. This includes people of color, women, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The political climate in America has changed significantly over the past couple of years and minorities are becoming increasingly affected. My goal is to examine how the media covers this and what effects it has on society. I plan to do this by taking current events and discussing the impacts they have had in the past and are currently having on America and its people.
My name is Erica Young and I am currently a senior Journalism major/Political Science minor at West Virginia University. I have been a news intern at WCHS-TV in Charleston, WV as well as WMBF-TV in Myrtle Beach, SC. I am also serving as Assistant News Director at U92-FM, WVU’s college radio station.
